Service Terminal Rotterdam is developing Project GreenSTR to meet the growing need for infrastructure tailored to the storage and blending of lower-carbon marine and road fuels.
Flexible infrastructure for a changing fuels market
The marine fuels landscape is changing through new legislation and decarbonisation initiatives. Product flexibility is therefore central to the project. GreenSTR is intended to support biofuels such as (m)ethanol, FAME and HVO.
Connected by water, rail and road
Land and quays are available, while permit applications and engineering are in preparation. The plans include connections for seagoing vessels and barges, with vessels up to MR size in scope. A rail connection and truck loading are also envisaged to strengthen inland connectivity.
Through GreenSTR, STR is preparing its terminal for a broader mix of fuels and the evolving needs of the maritime and hinterland markets.
